Levels of Care

Villas at Killearn Lakes’ community of homes for assisted living and memory care provides our Elders with the exceptional care that they need in a loving home environment. Elders and their families can feel safe and secure knowing that they will receive personal and specialized care. Our Elders know that they are home.

Essential Assistance

Our Care Partners provide help with routine daily activities, meal preparation, and medication management.

Moderate Assistance

Our Care Partners provide a moderate level of care, with additional support for basic hygiene and grooming, showering assistance, dressing, continence management, and help with mobility and transferring.

Extended Assistance

Our Care Partners provide a specialized high level of care for Elders sometimes bed-bound or suffering from cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer's disease or stroke. Extensive memory care included.

Respite Care

Respite Care and short-term stays are available at the Villas for Elders who are recovering from a medical event or for a caregiver who may need respite from caring for a loved one.

Memory Care

We provide a secured community campus for those living with Dementia allowing freedom to enjoy the entire Villas neighborhood.

Our Care Partners complete additional training from experts to assist those living with Alzheimer's disease and other memory disorders. Our care environment provides increased staffing levels which provides a 1 care partner to 6 Elders, almost double that of traditional facilities, that enables more one-on-one time between caregivers and Elders.

The goal is to sustain a resident’s highest possible quality of life at various stages of memory impairment. To accomplish this goal, specialized memory care interventions and programming are utilized.

Our Commitment

A commitment to a person-directed environment also means a commitment by the Villas to be licensed by the State of the Florida at the highest level possible – as an “extended congregate care” provider. This will enable residents to age in place and not have to relocate at the end of their lives unless it is their desire. Each Villa’s care partner to resident ratio will be approximately double that of traditional, larger assisted living facilities.

There will be a minimum of two certified care partners during the day and evening hours and one certified care partner per house at night, providing a 1:6 care partner to resident ratio for 16 to 18 hours a day, and a 1:12 ratio during residents’ sleeping hours. This allows care partners the time to give a significant amount of personal attention to each resident. This staffing model also provides for more relationship-building, where trust and a bond are built between care partner and resident. Care partners are enabled to learn many unique needs that a resident might have and to know their individual preferences and habits.

Good nutrition is also an essential part of providing quality care for all residents. Residents are encouraged to offer their creative input or participate with care partners in the cooking and serving process, perpetuating the collaborative arrangement that typifies life at home and the sense of value and dignity that comes with having a role “in the family.” Care partners and residents dine together, and family members are invited to join in as well, or to arrange for a special meal to enjoy in the private dining room.

Care partners who work in a person–directed culture where residents and staff together are highly engaged in the creation of a caring environment, have reported higher satisfaction. Communities that have undergone this type of culture change have also reported lower turnover among staff. This model is a paradigm shift that achieves the creation of a home where daily life, schedules and routines are based on the needs and preferences of the residents. Our staffing model takes competent and compassionate care partners and allows them to interact very differently with residents then can typically be done in a larger setting. The staff has built-in flexibility, so that all workers can respond to residents’ requests. Our staffing model is key to providing person-directed care — a unique and essential element of Villas at Killearn Lakes.
